Recently, the Southwest Regional competition of the 2025–2026 Chinese University Basketball Association League (CUBAL) Division I opened in Zhuzhou, Hunan Province. Yunnan University of Finance and Economics’ men’s basketball team defeated the long-established powerhouse Chengdu Sport University by a score of 94–87, earning its first win of the league.

The game was fiercely contested from start to finish, with both sides engaged in an intense back-and-forth battle on offense and defense. YUFE’s men’s basketball team remained in strong form throughout the game and delivered a steady performance, firmly controlling the pace of play and efficiently executing transitions between offense and defense to secure the victory.

A particularly notable performance came from player Chen Jipeng, who scored 42 points and became the key contributor to the team’s win. Several other players also scored from multiple positions, fully demonstrating the fighting spirit, determination, and resilience of the YUFE men’s basketball team.

The competition is hosted by the Chinese Student Sports Federation and jointly organized by Hunan University of Technology and the Zhuzhou Municipal People’s Government, with assistance from the Zhuzhou Municipal Bureau of Culture, Tourism, Radio, Film and Sports and the People’s Government of Tianyuan District, Zhuzhou. The Southwest Regional is one of the four major regional divisions of CUBAL, bringing together 36 strong university basketball teams from eight provinces, autonomous regions, and municipalities—Hunan, Hubei, Guangxi, Sichuan, Yunnan, Chongqing, Tibet, and Guizhou—as well as the Macao Special Administrative Region.
