On April 29, an internal and external review panel from the University of Greenwich in the United Kingdom conducted an online evaluation of “Greenwich College of Yunnan University of Finance and Economics,” the Sino-foreign cooperative education institution jointly established by the two universities. The panel ultimately confirmed, without conditions, the college’s qualifications to continue offering all of its current academic programs and agreed that the college may continue normal operations.
Zhang Honglie, Dean of the International Business School at Yunnan University of Finance and Economics, introduced to the panel the foundation of the cooperation, the college’s educational plan, and its future development prospects. The panel raised questions on topics including cooperative operation and management, teaching organization, evaluation and feedback, curriculum design, assessment mechanisms, teaching models, improvement of students’ English proficiency, the boundaries for the use of artificial intelligence tools, and the management of academic integrity. Program leaders and members of the teaching team from Yunnan University of Finance and Economics responded to these questions.
The evaluation covered multiple dimensions, including the program offerings of the newly established institution, curriculum structure, teaching quality, student support, academic integrity, and the quality assurance system. The review panel praised Greenwich College’s student service mechanisms, its English-language enhancement system, and the long-term and stable cooperative relationship between the two sides. The panel also offered suggestions for improvement regarding the refinement of course module documentation and the professional development of faculty and staff.
Both sides reaffirmed the successful foundation of their 22 years of cooperative education and expressed full confidence in the newly established institution. In the future, the two universities will continue to strengthen regular mutual visits through the Joint Management Committee and daily online communication platforms, and will jointly monitor and enhance the quality of the cooperative education program.
The review panel consisted of Chair Sandilan Pachai, external adviser Dr. Barry Jones, non-college academic committee member Jerome Chen, and quality assurance officer May Okuyiga.
Representatives from the management team and faculty of the International Business School and the Information School of Yunnan University of Finance and Economics, as well as representatives from the management team and faculty of the Faculty of Computing and Mathematical Sciences and the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Greenwich, attended the evaluation meeting.
